Chinese Wood Carving: “Fu Xing”, the Chinese god of happiness and prosperity, Fu Xing, originally identified with the star Mizar, is a deified (Yangcheng) official of the 6th century, and is often depicted with his symbol, the bat.
Fu Xing is usually identified with Fu Shen, a deification of a historical figure, the official Yangcheng, who served Emperor Wudi of the Liang dynasty in the 6th century. Yangcheng called the sovereign’s attention to using dwarfs as servants, and they gratefully erected a shrine to his memory after his death.
