Oil on canvas: Portrait of Philip V of Spain, (Versailles (France) December 19, 1683 – Madrid (Spain) July 9, 1746), was King of Spain from November 16, 1700 until his death in 1746, with a brief interruption (between January 16 and September 5, 1724) due to the abdication in favor of his son Luis I, who died prematurely on August 31, 1724.
As the great-grandson of Felipe IV, he was the successor of the last monarch of the House of Austria, his great-uncle Charles II, for which he became the first king of the House of Bourbon in Spain. His reign of 45 years and 3 days (split, as already noted, in two separate periods) is the longest in the history of the Spanish monarchy.
